INTENSIVE PROGRAM FOR NATIONAL BASKETBALL DEVELOPMENT

For National Basketball Federation leaders

There is a unique, and once in a lifetime opportunity, to make a real and lasting difference to the development of basketball for coaches, young players, officials and researchers through the realisation of the National basketball development programme.

The main objectives are to maximise the significant interest of the sport of basketball whilst inspiring the next generation of coaches, young players and officials. It is critical to develop a strategic, sustainable and structured approach whereby basketball coaches and officials will have the skills, understanding and framework to maximise the potential of the increasing number of emerging youth participants throughout.

Content of the course:

LBF & IBU will work together to create a National strategy for basketball development in your country, in the form of a National Basketball Academy (or will make an integration to any other program you will advise). The focus will be on creating a blueprint and strong foundations that will ensure excellence in all aspects of basketball for future generations.

Key areas of development will include:

• Create a Coach Education centre for current coaches.

The Academy will provide a base for existing coaches to attend coaching seminars and clinics at selected times of the year to update their skills, understanding and coaching qualifications.

• Degree in Basketball Coaching & management

Cooperation will deliver a Bachelor and Master degrees in basketball coaching and management based on the programme that is delivered at IBU. Graduating students will become coaches, managers and volunteers, and will be able to facilitate the development and preparation of athletes, consistent with the principles of long-term athlete development.

• International Opportunities

Increase the opportunities coaches, players and officials to compete, participate and learn from strategic visits to Lithuania to experience the European basketball culture.

Duration of the course: 1 month,  10 classes, 100% online course.

Structure of the class: One live class duration up to 90 min.

Study weekdays: Optional

Structure of the topics: One day consist of 1 live video consultation.

Evaluation: One reflection form (up to 200 words to each question) should be completed on each topic and sent to the course coordinator by email info@basketballstudies.com.

Diploma awarded: Lithuanian Basketball Coaches Association diploma and International Basketball University diploma.
